Cheesy Herb Pull Apart Bread…need I say more?! This easy-to-make pull apart bread is seriously delicious. Each roll is stuffed with cheese, with more cheese in between each roll, and a flavorful herb butter spread on top for perfectly browned and fluffy bread.

This recipe is a total crowd pleaser and works for just about any occasion. Holidays, weeknight dinner, birthday parties, late night snack – you name it! Since we use pizza dough instead of making dough from scratch, it’s easy to assemble and doesn’t require any special equipment. It’s extra delicious served with Litehouse® Homestyle Ranch as a dipping sauce…yum!

Here’s how to make it in a few simple steps:

To start, you’ll want to make sure to heavily grease a cast iron skillet or 9×9 baking dish. We use butter for extra flavor, but canola oil spray works fine, too. Don’t skip this step, otherwise your bread will stick to the bottom.

As we mentioned above, to keep this recipe quick and simple, we use pre-made pizza dough instead of from-scratch bread dough, which saves major time. We often purchase pre-made pizza dough at our local grocery store that makes pizza to sell by the slice – you may have to ask for it, but it’s always fantastic and super fresh! If your grocery store doesn’t make fresh pizza, you can likely find pre-made pizza dough in the freezer section. Just be sure to defrost thoroughly before making this bread.

To prep this bread, you’ll want to divide your pizza dough into about 16-18 portions. A bench scraper or a large knife is the best tool for this task. Take each portion of dough and wrap it around a cube of cheddar or mozzarella cheese, making sure to pinch and roll the dough at the seam so it’s fully sealed (otherwise the cheese will come out the bottom), Repeat with remaining dough. These don’t have to be perfect, just well sealed!

Arrange the dough balls in your skillet or baking dish. They should be just barely touching (they will rise and expand when baked). Fill in the gaps with more shredded cheese.

To finish of this pull apart bread for baking, whisk together your melted butter and Litehouse Freeze Dried Herbs. We use basil, oregano and parsley in this recipe. Brush the butter over the bread, then bake until golden brown. Save any leftover herb butter to baste the bread once it’s out of the oven. (You can’t ever have too much herb butter!)

There you have it – easy, cheesy, herby, insanely delicious pull apart bread in just a few simple steps!

You can customize yours with just about any cheese of choice. You can also change up the herbs, although you can’t go wrong with the classic combination of basil, oregano and parsley. For a spicier version, use pepper jack cheese and add in some Litehouse® Freeze Dried Jalapeño to the herb butter. For a garlicky version, add in Litehouse® Freeze Dried Garlic.

However you customize this cheesy pull apart bread, we’re pretty sure it will be devoured instantly!

This cheesy herb pull apart bread is made easy with a secret hack: pizza dough! The dough is transformed into small, pillowy rolls, stuffed with cheese, coated with an herb butter and baked to perfection. They’re a delicious treat on their own, or served as a side dish or appetizer in place of classic dinner rolls.

Directions

Preheat oven to 350˚F and grease a large cast iron skillet or 9x9” baking dish with butter or oil spray. Divide pizza dough into 16-18 portions using a sharp knife or bench scraper.
