Fresh batch of Gorgonzola Fig Dip ready to serve

In my book, when it comes to hosting parties during the holidays or any time of year, the more you can get done ahead of time, the better. And appetizers are one of the best ways to get ahead on cooking. They can often be served cold or at room temp. Plus, if you plan things well, you might not even need serving or eating utensils for your party apps.

Dips are especially great dish to serve to party guests. They’re often easy to make, and they store well. Plus, with a spread of different crackers, chips and crudités, your guests can pick and choose how to enjoy your dip.

This gorgonzola fig dip can be easily made ahead and stored for a day or two before a party. But even if you don’t quite plan ahead that much, it takes less than 10 minutes to throw together anyway.

We started this creamy and savory gorgonzola fig dip with a classic flavor combination. Honey and gorgonzola are delicious together. With the addition of dried mission figs, you get a nice texture to the dip.

The recipe calls for four dried figs, but take note that you should reserve one to garnish the top of the bowl. Dice one fig up nice and small to add a splash of color and crunch to the top of your creamy dip.

The rest of the dried mission figs get blended up with Litehouse® Simply Artisan Gorgonzola Crumbles, a bit of half and half for smoothness, and cream cheese. We love dried figs in this dip because they pack a lot of natural sweetness. You want fruit that’s well hydrated and soft. Dry or older figs won’t make for the best texture in this dip.

What’s great about this fig gorgonzola dip is how forgiving it is. If you like a stronger gorgonzola flavor, you can cut back on some of the cream cheese and add a few more gorgonzola crumbles. Or, if you want a lighter, softer dip, add a splash more half and half. And if you don’t have half and half on hand, other dairy like whole milk or cream will work well too.

The final secret ingredient to finish off this savory and easy gorgonzola fig dip is bit of honey. Honey is a natural, non-processed sweetener that packs delicious flavor.

Finally, top everything off with your diced fig and a few reserved crumbles of Litehouse® Simply Artisan Gorgonzola. Cheers!
