Grilled Italian Herb Asparagus recipe

I live in Florida, and I’m lucky enough to be able to grill year-round. You’ll find asparagus on my menu at least once a week. My preferred method of cooking asparagus is grilling it. It’s an effortless side dish that takes minimal time and packs a nutritious punch to any dinner. I feel like many people see asparagus as an upscale side dish. You will find it as a premium up charge at any big steakhouse or mainstream restaurant these days. It always makes me laugh considering that the price of asparagus if purchased in season is not that much more than other green vegetables in the produce aisle. But for some reason asparagus has been given this “high-end“ vegetable label. Asparagus is a great source of fiber and folate. It’s also packed with antioxidants and is a natural brain booster thanks to that folate.

I celebrate the “high-end” vegetable by grilling the asparagus with simple ingredients that amplify its natural flavors. I always coat my veggies in oil such as olive oil or grapeseed oil. Then, I sprinkle on the Litehouse® Fresh Dried Italian Herb Blend, salt, and black pepper. I use the best kitchen tools you can find to mix—your own hands! I make sure that the seasoning is evenly distributed. I like to place the veggies on a baking sheet, so it’s easy to transport to and from the grill. If I’m grilling meat I also like to add the cooked meat to the baking tray.

Asparagus does not take long to grill. In fact, it takes about 5 minutes to grill. Make sure to place the spears horizontal along the grill grate, and be prepared for one or two to fall into the grill. It’s totally okay. You get bonus points if you can successfully place them on and take them off the grill without any falling off!

Pro Tip: Grill the asparagus ahead of time before you entertain. Chill the cooked asparagus in the refrigerator and add to a charcuterie board for a fun healthy twist.

If you are looking to treat your family to what’s considered the “high-end“ vegetable side dish or maybe even entertaining then definitely give my easy recipe for grilled Italian Asparagus a try.
