Serving up Classic Broccoli Salad

I’ll be honest; this is probably my most favorite weekend of the year. And it probably has to do with the fact that it’s my birthday this weekend and my birthday always falls on Memorial Day weekend. While there will be celebrating and cookouts all over this weekend spent with family, it’s also a good time to remember what Memorial Day really is all about.

I have a handful of friends and family that are service members and even one that died in combat. This is a good time to remember what they all do for our country and how they risk their lives for the safety of our country. Sometimes we tend to forget about the importance of these individuals and how much they do for us here at home. Just keep that in mind this weekend!

With remembrance always comes celebrating and I’m sure a lot of you will be hosting cookouts this weekend. One of my all time favorite side dishes for summer cookouts is this Classic Broccoli Salad. I work with a woman that always brings this dish to our work cookouts and I’m always first in line for a giant scoop. I prefer to use craisins but I know that some people also use raisins so that is totally up to you. This salad holds up really well so you can feel free to make it a day ahead of time and you rest assured that it will still taste delicious the next day.
