Here we are, coming up on Canada Day already. Last year we didn't do much with it falling in the middle of the week. We attended the parade in town but that was about the extent of our celebration. This year we've got another mid week holiday but we're going to make the most of it! I'm telling you Wednesday, you're going to be fun like your good pal Friday! I live in a small town here in Beautiful BC but we sure know how to throw a family themed party! The day will start out how I wish every day could - sleeping in! The parade doesn't start until mid morning so an extended pyjama session is definitely in order.
We'll grab a coffee before lining the streets with our red and white shirts, waving flags and helping the kids secure some candy handed out by people walking the route. After the parade the fun really starts with a day full of activities.
I was pretty excited to see there would be food vendors amongst the show and shine, kid's bouncy castles, games and face painting. If I'm going to be in face paint line ups and walking around all afternoon I'm going to need to refuel! It's going to be a great day spent with family and friends. After a long afternoon out it will be nice to get home and relax on the patio. There's nothing like coming home, putting your feet up and enjoying the rest of a sunny afternoon. I've made strawberry cheesecake frozen yogurt ahead of time so we can simply scoop it out and dig in.
This frozen treat uses only three ingredients. Strawberries, bananas and Litehouse Creamy Cheesecake flavoured Greek yogurt dip. The dip lends a creamy texture and tangy cheesecake flavour to the fruit. Preparing the frozen yogurt takes no time at all. Simply place all the ingredients in a food processor or blender and you'll have a summer time favourite the whole family will love! You can serve it right away for ultimate soft serve or set the mixture in the freezer for an hour to harden. I love recipes like this for summer - simple ingredients and minimal prep. Perfect for a day off in the middle of the week
