4 Ingredient Baklava Cookies

I absolutely love Baklava but I never get to eat it because, well it’s just too darn difficult and time consuming to make! I love baking but working with layer after layer of Filo dough just isn’t my calling. Traditional Greek Baklava is made with many thin sheets of the paper thin pastry dough layered with butter, a nut mixture, and honey. It is sweet, flakey, and very nutty… Kind of like me. When I attempt to make the delicious dessert the thin sheets of dough always get dried out and start breaking on me and I end up frustrated and stuck with a finished product I’m not happy with. I’ve even just given up mid recipe before!

Today I had a craving for Baklava and was determined to make an easier version that would leave me feeling happy and satisfied. What I came up with were these incredibly easy 4 Ingredient Baklava Cookies! Everything I love about the nutty dessert without all of the fuss, and I was stuffing my face in under 30 minutes. It’s like I’ve died and gone to heaven.

Instead of trying my hand at Filo Dough, again, I decided to go with the easier flakey pastry alternative, puff pastry. Puff pastry is ridiculously easy to work with, I just unroll the dough and get to working with it! No brushing with butter, no layering, it’s just ready and waiting and for me. I also took an easy route to the nut mixture by using OPADipity by Lighthouse Sweet Greek Yogurt Dip in Cinnamon Swirl. It gave me a perfectly moist cinnamon flavor that I was looking for and was perfectly sweetened. I simply spread some of the dip onto the pastry dough then topped it with a healthy dose of ground walnuts. A quick little fold to hold everything together and I threw it in the oven and crossed my fingers.

Magic! The pastry unfolded just enough to expose the nut mixture toasting it to perfection and creating a little cup shape that was begging to hold some honey. “You’ve got it my little Baklava babies”, at this point I’m so happy that I’m talking to them. A drizzle of local honey over top the warm cookies was the icing on the cake. It adds a flowery sweetness that just can’t be beat!

4 Ingredient Baklava Cookies

Serves 18 | Finish in 20 minutes

Whip up a batch of these Baklava inspired cookies in under 30 minutes! With only 4 ingredients needed and a few simple steps, you can satisfy that Baklava craving whenever it hits!


2 sheets puff pastry, thawed in the fridge
Opadipity by Litehouse Sweet Greek Yogurt Dip Cinnamon Swirl
1 c. ground walnuts
Honey for topping


Preheat the oven to 400 degrees and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
Lay the sheets of puff pastry flat on a cooking surface.
Cut each sheet into 9 squares.
Add 1 tsp. of the Sweet Greek Yogurt Dip to each square of puff pastry.
Divide the walnuts evenly between the squares.
Fold the corners of the pastry squares up and over the top of the yogurt dip and walnuts.
Place on the prepared cookie sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.
Drizzle a bit of honey over the top of each Baklava Cookie and dig in!
