Sticky Sesame Chicken Wings

With the cooler temperature comes weekends spent more and more indoors watching movies or games on the big screen. In our family there are favourite teams and some even sit on designated couches. Things get serious! One thing everyone can agree on is the need for snacks. Wings have got to be the one snack food you’ll find most at any game day gathering. It’s a popular appetizer in general. Wing Wednesday anyone? Just like any good team rivalry we also find ourselves in the great debate. Blue Cheese or Ranch with the wings?

Litehouse Ranch has always reigned supreme in our house, most likely because it’s the safe choice with the young crowd. Kids tend to look at me weird when I say blue cheese. Similar to when green beans are mentioned.

I will confess that just like the team it doesn’t really matter. I would be the one that says “the red team is winning” My motto has always been just here for the food. Be it Ranch, Blue Cheese, white cheese, no cheese. Just give me a plate and I’ll be fine. I’d much rather be cooking the food for the game than actually watching.

This Sunday I made the easiest Sticky Sesame Chicken Wings. They were devoured as soon as they hit the table! The wings start out with a simple dusting in flour then baked or fried and tossed in homemade sauce. The sticky sesame sauce only has five ingredients and takes a few minutes to whisk together. I paired them with our favourite Ranch dressing and dip, though if the crew can handle the heat I would suggest the Jalapeno Ranch. Of course there’s carrots and celery to say we got some veggies in too. I know you’ll be surprised how easy and delicious the sauce is and it’s going to wow the crowd!

These wings are easy, delicious, and perfect for your game day needs! You can even prep them during half time.

  • 1/4 c. Flour
  • 1/4 tsp. Salt
  • 20 Wings, approx 2 lbs.
  • 3 tbsp. Soy
  • 2 tbsp. Sesame Oil
  • 1/2 tsp. Litehouse® Freeze Dried Garlic
  • 3 tbsp. Water, divided
  • 1/2 c. Brown Sugar
  • 1 tbsp. Cornstarch
  • Sliced Green Onions and Sesame Seeds, for garnish
  • Litehouse® Buttermilk Ranch Dressing

  1. In a large bag combine the flour and salt. Add the chicken and shake to coat. Discard any left over flour.
  2. I used my Actifry to cook the wings in 40 minutes. Alternatively, the wings can be cooked on a baking sheet in the oven set at 400°F for 40-45 minutes. Turing the wings half way through.
  3. Combine the soy, sesame oil, garlic, 2 tablespoons of water and brown sugar in a sauce pan.
  4. Heat on medium. Whisk together the remaining 1 tablespoon of water with the cornstarch and pour into the sauce. Bring to a boil and then simmer until thickened.
  5. When the wings are cooked, toss with the sauce and serve with Litehouse® Buttermilk Ranch dressing.
