Tearing into a fresh batch of Blue Cheese Monkey Bread
Blue Cheese Monkey Bread with Simply Artisan Blue Cheese Crumbles

Monkey bread comes in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes it’s round, wreath-shaped or square. It can be sweet, topped with nuts and cinnamon. Or it can go savory, with melty cheese and fresh herbs. For this delicious holiday rendition of monkey bread, we took the best of both worlds. Enter: savory and sweet Blue Cheese Monkey Bread with garlic honey butter.

The one trait that unites all good monkey bread recipes is the family-style pull-apart rolls. There’s something so comforting about stretching your perfectly seasoned roll off of the communal monkey bread loaf. And you won’t even need butter on the table if you sub this monkey bread for your usual dinner rolls at a holiday meal. It’s already dressed up and ready to go, straight from the oven!

Here’s how we did it:

Our blue cheese monkey bread is packed with flavor. Most of it comes from Litehouse® Simply Artisan Blue Cheese. It’s rich with flavor and color. Plus, it melts beautifully into the dough as your monkey bread bakes. The result is a golden-topped lobed loaf with a gooey, cheesy center.

We balance the salty and sharp blue cheese crumbles with a bit of sweetness. Honey butter adds just the right amount of natural sugar and silky buttery flavor. We also added a bit of minced garlic to really amp up the flavor. The melted butter and honey seep into the bread dough as it bakes, creating a moist and fluffy roll that needs nothing more.

For that reason, this easy monkey bread is ideal to serve at a holiday meal. It doesn’t require serving utensils, cutlery or even a plate! (Though napkins might be appreciated). Bring this blue cheese monkey bread with honey garlic butter to a potluck to win the holiday party game. And now you know where to send everyone who asks for your recipe!

Ingredients

Directions

Pull the dough apart into about 20 evenly sized pieces. Grease a 9x9 inch baking dish or 10 inch oven-proof skillet. Arrange the dough balls in the prepared dish and let them sit, covered with a dish towel, for at least 30 minutes. The dough is ready when the balls are a bit puffy. You can speed up the process by keeping them somewhere warm, like by a sunny window.Preheat the oven to 350°F.Microwave the butter in a small microwave-safe until mostly melted. Add the honey to the butter and microwave for another 30 seconds, until the honey is runny and the butter is fully melted. You can also do this in a small saucepan if you don’t have a microwave.Mix the Blue Cheese and garlic into the butter mixture and pour over the dough in the baking dish. Bake until golden brown and cooked through, 18-22 minutes. Top with fresh herbs and serve warm.
