Summer barbecues are my favorite type of party. They provide a relaxing atmosphere, the food is simple, and the summer weather is nice and warm which makes entertaining easy. Here are five tips to make your next backyard barbecue stress-free, yet still the best in the neighborhood!
1. Simple food. Simple dishes are best for backyard barbecues, especially when entertaining for a crowd. Try simple dishes with a twist, like this Thai Peanut Coleslaw! On a budget? Here is how to grill for a crowd on a budget. 2. Refreshing drinks. Summer weather can be hot and muggy, cool down your guests with refreshing drinks like water with mint, lemon and ginger ice cubes or instantly fresh lemonade. 3. Easy clean up. Eating outside allows for disposable plates and utensils. If you want to get a little fancier, try these eco-friendly disposable plates, bowls and utensils. 4. Fun, DIY Entertainment. I’ve been trying to find a reason to make all of the DIY yard games I find on Pinterest. This yard yahtzee, jumbo Jenga and backyard Twister look SO fun! These games are perfect for both kids and adults. 5. Backup Plan. Always have a backup plan in place in case of inclement weather when you are planning to entertain outdoors. Will you buy a party tent? Is there enough room in your dining room? Having a back up plan in place means there will be no stress about the weather and no need to cancel. Now that you’ve got all the tips you need for a stress-free, summer barbecue, let’s get to the Thai Peanut Coleslaw recipe! Coleslaw is a typical barbecue side dish, but this recipe has a little Thai twist.
Fresh red pepper, cabbage cucumber, carrots and Instantly Fresh cilantro and basil are tossed in Litehouse’s Thai Peanut Dressing (one of my favorite Litehouse dressings).
You can certainly serve this flavorful coleslaw as a side dish, but it’s even more delicious on top of grilled chicken, burgers or salmon.
This Thai twist on a classic coleslaw recipe will be a hit at your next backyard barbecue! Have fun!
