Do you order your pizza with a side of ranch dressing? I have a hunch that most of us are regular ranch dippers or, at a minimum, have dunked a slice into a rich and creamy ramekin of this national treasure at some point in life. Funny thing is that if you Google “ranch dressing and pizza,” you are bombarded with heated banter between pizza purists and those who like to kick things up with this culturally iconic condiment. One restaurant right here in Texas actually “outlaws” the act and when word of this banishment hit the web, dippers, dunkers and even daintier drizzlers flipped out from coast to coast!
However, I say dip your pizza pie in ranch dressing if that’s your style. After all, this is America, a nation with the promise of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness – and this most popular salad dressing of all time really does make people happy. We also live in a land of creativity and convenience and these values were the impetus for a really tasty short cut made in my own home kitchen. Too busy to get to the store, I had to make one of those “necessity is the mother of invention” type dinners with the meager morsels on hand. Are you sitting down? I am about to rock your weekday-rushed, pizza-eating world.
My invention was ranch dressing MIXED INTO a pizza crust for all-over herby-buttermilk goodness. You may be starting to drool at the sound of this, but shaking your head sadly knowing you’ll never rise to the occasion of making yeasty pizza dough that takes hours to knead, rest and rise. Well, I have even more insanely good news for your – there are only TWO INGREDIENTS and the dough recipe only takes TWO MINUTES to make and then about 12 more to bake with your favorite toppings. Still, you’re eating ranch-flavored pizza in less than 15 minutes and that is definitely faster than delivery!
And, if you want to bathe your finished pizza in even more ranch dressing, rest assured that this is an inalienable right!
