Spinach and Parmesan Turkey Burgers

Because we live in the Midwest, we are a traditional meat and potatoes family. My husband would choose to eat a big steak for dinner every night if he could. The desire to eat turkey only crosses his mind on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Even with our family’s love for beef, I usually try to make at least one meatless dinner and several meatless lunches during the week because of both health and money-saving reasons. I am always trying to find ways to make our family meals healthier without compromising taste for my picky eaters. Lately I have been substituting ground turkey for ground beef in some recipes. It’s interesting that my husband doesn’t even realize that it’s turkey! Lean ground turkey has a very low fat and high protein content. Many people note that ground turkey breast, which is extremely lean, (97-99%!) doesn’t have as much flavor as ground beef, but you can ramp up the flavors with Litehouse herbs.
Ground turkey can be substituted wherever ground beef is used. For a timesaver, brown a few pounds of ground turkey and keep on hand in the freezer. Here are a few of my favorite recipes to use ground turkey in:
- Enchiladas
- Tacos
- Meatloaf
- Stuffed peppers
- Lasagna
- Empanadas
These spinach and Parmesan turkey burgers are light and fresh. The Spinach and Parmesan Litehouse Dip is a delicious burger topping. You could even put a few tablespoons of the dip inside of the turkey patties! I like swapping buns for whole-wheat flatbreads or pitas, which can be lower in calories than the traditional hamburger bun.
I love how quick and easy these turkey burgers are. In less than a half hour, dinner is on the table! As a busy mom, my favorite recipes are the ones that are quick, healthy and delicious. What are your favorite turkey recipes?
