I hate to admit that I tend to waste a lot of food in my household. With only two people in my house it becomes difficult to cook without having to eat the same leftovers for an entire week. I’ve been trying to be better about waste because it is practically like throwing money in the garbage. I’ve been spending more time lately rifling through my refrigerator and pantry and trying to use what I have for meals. With a little creativity I have done a pretty good job of wasting less food. Here’s a prime example: Chicken Bacon Ranch Bagel Bites
Early on in the week I had picked up one of those rotisserie chickens from my local grocery store. I had leftovers and was trying to put them to good use. Then I spotted the mini bagels that my fiancé just had to have but never seemed to eat. Bagel bites sounded like a great use for both products. One of my favorite flavor combinations is chicken, bacon and ranch so I figured I’d run with that. Using the bacon bits that I typically sprinkle on my salad, I mixed them together with the leftover chicken and some cheese. I pulled the flavors together with a sprinkle of Litehouse Instantly Fresh Chives and a star was born!
Ranch is not my typical dressing of choice mainly because it is usually high in calories. Luckily I had some OPA Ranch dressing by Litehouse on hand to cut out a few calories in my bagel bites. This dressing offers a big ranch flavor with only 60 calories per serving since it is made with Greek yogurt! So here’s the ‘takeaway’ from this post: more creativity, less waste. Bringing your leftovers together with a little bit of creativity can help create all new meals and cut down on the food waste in your house. You can craft delicious meals with just a few ingredients from your refrigerator or pantry that can help you save money and eat better!
