I would be amazed to hear that anyone has not seen the viral Baked Feta Pasta recipe that has been featured around the web and social media in the past month. I know that I saw it a thousand times before grabbing the ingredients and trying it for myself. The result was delicious, and you can make this super easy and delicious dish at home using Simply Artisan Reserve Feta Cheese Crumbles and Freeze Dried Basil.
There are a lot of variations of this recipe out there but this one is the most basic and original. The original recipe does have you turn up the oven temperature at the end of baking to brown the cheese, however, I found that step unnecessary. The recipe itself was really easy to put together, I would just offer a word of caution when crushing the tomatoes with a fork to be careful of them bursting hot seeds and juices onto your hands.
The best part about this dish is that you can completely customize it with various proteins, vegetables, other cheeses and more! Here are some ideas:
- Other cheese ideas: Blue Cheese, Brie, Burrata
- Protein: Add chicken or shrimp to the baking dish in the last 10-15 minutes of baking time
- Vegetables: Cubed Eggplant, Asparagus, Spinach and Mushrooms
Be cautious with certain proteins and vegetables because they may require different cook times. Be sure to check for doneness with chicken or any meat protein.
